The US Naval War College Foundation reports it has received “a generous gift” from the Widgeon Foundation to support its civilian-military Humanitarian Response Program (HRP). The program is designed to better prepare the US Navy and its partners to respond to disasters and carry out other humanitarian operations. Among its initiatives, the program partners with humanitarian groups and institutes of higher education, provides simulation and education training, and conducts research. Currently, the HRP is pursuing five research agendas, which were determined during the 2020 Fourth Annual Civilian-Military Humanitarian Response Workshop in conjunction with Brown University’s Center for Human and Humanitarian Studies. Thanks to the funding from the Widgeon Foundation, the US Naval War College Foundation can advance research in these five areas, as well as underwrite prior years' research.
